Our Core Principles and Values

African Approaches

Dignity

Integrity

LEAD Africa has three fundamental values:

Only authentic education and   targeted capacity building  will enable our people to draw on the capital of knowledge and values  stored up by all humanity, thus equipping ourselves…” to get out of the vicious cycle of poverty that  is so devastating to our people in Africa. .” Joseph Ki-Zerbo, Educate or Perish: Africa’s impasse and prospects, pg.84

LEAD Africa believes that governance is first and foremost the responsibility of African countries and her people. Two are as are crucial: the capacity to design and deliver policies and accountability especially in how the state answers to its people.

LEAD Africa appreciates that given the problems and challenges that Africa confronted in the last century and continues to confront in the 21st century, it is imperative that Africa creates leaders who are competent, honest and have integrity, visionary and committed and also have knowledge and appreciation about the ever-changing world.

Our Governance Structure

The Board of Directors (BoD) provides the organization with policy formulation and governance. The BoD meets quarterly every year, with additional meetings convened, as

Circumstances require.

LEAD Africa has an Advisory Committee (AC) whose roles are primarily to provide the CEO/ED and management with knowledge and expertise in programmatic execution and direction. The AC has scheduled biannual meetings with additional meetings convened, as circumstances dictate.

The BoD has delegated the management of LEAD Africa to the Executive Director (ED), who manages the organization in accordance with the established procedures and in line with the organization’s mission.

The ED is assisted by an Administrative Manager (AM),a team of full-time inter- disciplinary (Governance, Gender, Environment) professionals who undertakes all program activities, support staff comprising of an accountant, administrative secretary and office assistants. The AM coordinates all the activities of LEAD Africa and reports directly to the ED.
